I think creators are very prone to mental illness, not just in music.
Basically, they work silently alone, and if they commission you to do something, they will ask you to correct or point out.
Even when working independently, it’s basically a battle against a goal that has no correct answer.
In all of this, with the explosive growth of social media and tools recently, it has become very easy for us to compare ourselves with others.
I feel that more and more people are getting sick because of comparisons with others.
Or rather, I was sick for a while. Sigh.
Labels and record companies are profit-driven, so they certainly value quality, but they also tend to focus on a person's popularity and fan count, which I think is what those who demand from them care more about.
On Twitter, it’s the number of RTs and Favs, on Instagram, it’s the likes and shares of Stories.
For TikTok, it’s just about whether you get recommended.
When informed, it’s from which label it was released! Which producer’s support was received!
You have to borrow the name of a big figure to promote yourself and boost your own fame.
Thinking about this really feels endless.
But the more I think about it, the more nauseating it feels. Haha.
I suddenly feel that this is not interesting at all, and it’s not the music I like.
I stopped thinking about it and started making the music I like, the type of music I want to make.
Last year, I released a few Midtempo and SpeedHouse tracks on Bandcamp.
For this year's album, I produced some dance tracks in the bounce style that I have always loved.
Since 2021, I have gradually released some of them, and the response from fans has been very good.
In the end, I found that the music I love resonates the most with those who like me and listen to my music, which has gradually eased my mentally tortured state.
We live in a world that always chases numbers.
For creators, it’s important to face oneself honestly and do what they like.
I think it’s very important for creators to be honest with themselves both mentally and directionally, and to create what they love.
There are so many fake numbers out there. Haha.
If creators with the same issues can feel a little better, I would be very happy.
